I don't believe God exists. Prove it!
(...continued)

Assuming the disciple is confronted by an intelligent non-believer in God, let us pursue the discussion using the logic that underlies the overall grand scheme that originated and maintains The Creation.

All that is is all.
All that is is energy.
All energy that is is God.
God IS!

Those people who work and figuratively live in the world of atomic and sub-atomic particles will be the first to tell you that all matter is comprised at its base level of energy. In fact, in the world of quantum physics there exists nothing that the human being can pick up with his or her fingers; or even see with the naked eye; nor feel against their skin; nor smell or hear. Yet, there is matter present, but it is in energy form. Visible matter comes into being only when certain quantum particles of energy bond together in various combinations to form advanced levels of matter. So many 'quarks' bond together to form into elementary 'bosons' such as 'photons' which produce light; or they may bond into a composite like 'mesons' which advance in construction to produce even more advanced sub-atomic particles, in turn combining and interacting to produce higher-level atomic particles. When figuratively viewed (as the quantum world is invisible to the unaided eye), what exists appears as absolute chaos. Thanks to modern technology, physicists can see what takes place inside a nuclear particle accelerator, and in so doing, 'something' can be made out of nothing. That is, the theorized chaotic 'nothing' is, in reality, found to be quite populated with discernable forms of energy, each with a specific function to perform. Quantum physicists asked over a century ago, "How can order come out of disorder?"

Indeed, how can it?

The God-energy limerick above, as it now stands, is a one-way street. It pursues in one direction the origin of energy. Instead, let's go in the opposite direction. Let me give an example to illustrate where I am going with this: dynamite.

Dynamite represents energy in a physical stick form. Without a fuse and/or triggering device, a stick of dynamite is potential energy - that is, we know what a stick of dynamite is capable of, but until it is actually triggered to explode, it assumes the state of inert potential energy. When the stick of dynamite is triggered, it violently explodes and what was previously a material stick is now smoke, force, noise and smell in all directions within the area of the explosion. With the dynamite stick's detonation, chaos prevails. The energy of the dynamite instantly goes in all directions.

If, however, the stick of dynamite is placed into a drilled hole, deep in the side of a mountainous granite cliff, and then detonated, the energy of the dynamite is no longer chaotic, but shaped to be of maximum use to the engineers building a highway through the mountain.  Tons of rock will be effectively carved from the mountain, and if the engineers know what they are doing, the remainder of the mountain will be left standing for us to look at in amazement when we drive our automobile over the newly-constructed highway.

The highway engineers constructively controlled the explosion and release of energy. Instead of the exploding dynamite destroying everything within its range of effectiveness, the engineers harnessed the explosive power to eventually create a highway. With this simple illustration, proof of God is beginning to reveal itself - even for the hardest-headed skeptic.

Those who study organic life, the biologists, share something with those who study the visible and invisible universe, the astrophysicists. Whether looking through a microscope or a telescope, visually presented is a truth that is unavoidable: no form of energy is allowed to advance on its own unchallenged by either an equal or stronger form of energy. A burst of energy will be confronted with its counterpart of resistance; a resistance designed to impede the force and direction of the original energy burst. This interplay of energy and resistance is used to make every computer, radio, cell phone and television function and deliver the desired results. The original burst of energy is electricity, but passed through a maze of resistors, capacitors and billions of transistors placed on a processing chip, the raw electrical energy is restricted and manipulated so that it produces the computational product called data processing. I find that amazing!

Just as amazing is that moment when the non-believer comes to realize that if raw energy is allowed to proceed on its own, and no constraining control is present, there would be no physical existence. There would be no identifiable universe, and certainly no Earth. It is God who is the Great Creator, but He is also the Great Constrainer, and therein is where His creative powers come to full flower. It is a simple act to light the fuse in a stick of dynamite and watch it explode itself into random chaos, but it is something different altogether knowing how to use that explosion to create something.

The Universe is a massive dynamite explosion in progress. Not only a single explosion, but millions of multiple explosions taking place right this moment. An older yellow star explodes and through the sequential forces of inertia, cooling and gravity, creates a galaxy. Another star, having lived its life to the last, no longer able to produce fusion hydrogen reactions within its interior - its light dimmed to darkness - collapses onto itself and in so doing produces a massive gravity field known as singularity that sucks in nearby heavenly bodies and even light.  And, where one star dies, another galaxy is born out of... explosion.  It is obvious to all who look through telescopes that order, not disorder, pervades the heavens. For if it was disorder, there would be no stars, gaseous clouds, planets, organic life, and instead there would exist a nondescript amorphous blobs of superheated hydrogen and helium, accompanied by the cold, invisible entity known as dark matter.

The Universe is restrained by the Will of God. It is as clear as day that if there was no overriding control on life, the energy force that propels life to exist and procreate - man and stars included - there would be nothing of definition. Water on earth just didn't make itself, nor did the fish and mammals in the water just make themselves. If there was no intelligent design, or creative restraint present, how would the energy force within water 'know' where it stops and the energy force within fish and mammals 'know' where it begins. Without rational design, controls and restraints, would not all existing energy level out to its lowest common denominator?  Yes it would! With 'motivated' energy, coupled with creative design, we are able to see the fruits of God's marvelous creation and all the variations of life and matter that comprise it.

It is argued, ad infinitum by the arrogant, that life would advance on its own, elevating its complexity to what we observe today on the planet Earth. It's a lame argument, one that would be put forth by an arrogant humanist. Observe a hummingbird or a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly and note the engineering that went into the creation of those two animals: one seemingly defies physics with its flying, the other is unbelievably beautiful. According to the non-believers of God, by their reasoning the slime that's in a sewage ditch will self-motivate and reconstruct to produce someday a hummingbird and a butterfly. Fat chance! That's moronic thinking, and those who think that way only 'self-motivate' to produce
the next generation of morons.

Make no mistake about it, disciple, there is a controlling hand involved in the origin and maintenance of all creation. That hand is God's. To think otherwise is nothing other than human arrogance based on self-centeredness. To put this in perspective, now is the time to use the Bible as your weapon and let us turn to the Book of Job 38: 1 - 13: "Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: 'Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements - surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars sang together and all the heavenly beings shouted for joy? Or who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb? - when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, and prescribed bounds for it, and set bars and doors, and said, 'Thus far shall you come, and no farther, and here shall your proud waves b e stopped. Have you commanded the morning since your days began, and caused the dawn to know its place, so that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?' "

And in Job 40: 1 - 14:
"And the Lord said to Job: 'Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Anyone who argues with God must respond.' Then Job answered the Lord: 'See, I am of small account; what shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. I have spoken once, and I will not answer; twice, but will proceed no further.' Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: 'Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you, and you declare to me. Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be justified?' "

Could God be talking to any non-believer you know, disciple?  If so, let the person reflect upon these words and become naturally curious. In his commentary "On the Trinity", Early Church Father Hilary of Poitiers (315 - 367 AD) wrote:

"Our nature can't contemplate heavenly things by its own strength. We must learn from God what we should think of Him. We have no source of knowledge but God Himself. You might be as well trained in secular philosophy as possible, and you may have lived a life of righteousness. But, although all of this will add to your mental satisfaction, it won't help you know God. Moses was adopted as the queen's son. He was instructed in all the Egyptians' wisdom. Moreover, out of loyalty to his race, Moses avenged the Hebrew by slaying the Egyptian who wronged him. Yet he didn't know the God who blessed his fathers. For when he left Egypt afraid of his deed being discovered, he lived as a shepherd in the land of Midian. There he saw a fire in the bush, but the bush wasn't consumed. Then he heard the voice of God, asked His name, and learned His nature. Despite all this he couldn't have known anything except through God Himself. We, in the same way, must confine whatever we say about God to the words He has spoken to us about Himself."

The Creation is God's poem as spoken by the Word, Jesus Christ. It is a poem of Word, light and music that can be appreciated only by the sensitive, receptive soul, but the ethos behind the manifestation, God, is clearly communicated for all to read and understand by the words contained in the Holy Scriptures. The results of God's handiwork are vouched for when the bull-headed, egocentric human only stops in humbleness to observe the obvious. It does not take exclusively a believer to see what's going on here; it takes a person who truly knows how to use his or her intellect. From knowledge comes faith, and from faith comes belief, from belief - obedience. This knowledge is directly from Christ. Peter says in his First Letter (I Peter 1:13) "Wherefore, gird up the loins of your mind, and being sober, hope perfectly on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." As Jesus would ask when explaining a difficult parable to his disciples, "Have you understood all this?" (Matthew 13: 51). It is your duty disciple to use your gift of wisdom from the Holy Spirit and your human intelligence to aid you in understanding that God does, indeed, truly and vibrantly exist throughout His creation, and simultaneously outside of it.
